As previously mentioned, maintaining a healthy diet with nutritious foods is crucial for an individual's health. Based on multiple factors (age, activity level, weight, etc.), every individual's body requires different food needs. In this post, I will be discussing what an individual should generally be consuming each day.



Food Groups:

There are five food groups that each individual should consume the correct amount daily. The five food groups contain fruit, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy. Each of these food groups has an essential impact on the human body, which makes them crucial to consume.


Fruits:

The daily recommended amount of fruits for women is one and a half to two cups. Men should be consuming two to two and a half cups daily. Make sure to include a wide variety of fruits when consuming them since they each have different benefits. It is important to focus on consuming whole fruits more than canned, dried, or frozen. Although these alternate options are good for you, whole fruits contain more benefits for the human body. Two servings are encouraged for each individual to eat every day.


Vegetables:

Women are recommended to consume two to two and a half cups of vegetables each day. Men are encouraged to eat two to three cups of vegetables daily. Make sure to include a wide variety of vegetables to help benefit your body even more. It is crucial to eat dark green, leafy, yellow, red, orange, and starchy vegetables. Two and a half servings are encouraged for each individual to eat every day.


Grains:

Women should consume seventy grams, while men should eat ninety grams of grains daily. It is critical to be eating and focusing on whole grains rather than other grain products. Six servings are encouraged for each individual to eat every day.


Proteins:

An average man should consume approximately fivety-six grams, and an average woman should eat forty-six grams of protein daily. Attempt to eat various protein foods while focusing mainly on the protein that plant sources offer.


Dairy:

Each man and woman are encouraged to eat three cups of dairy daily. Try to consume fat-free and low-fat dairy products more than normal ones. Three servings are encouraged for each individual to eat every day.


Calories:

Women's bodies need 300-500 fewer calories than men. Each woman is recommended to reach 2,000 calories daily but should not have anything less than 1,200 calories. Each man should aim for 2,500 calories per day but should not be under 1,500 calories. This is the recommended amount of calories that each gender should have, but it can differ depending on your weight goals and other factors.
